Bluetooth tracking rests on two devices: a tracker on the tool and a gateway nearby. Together, they keep detections up to date in Allokit without anyone on your crew lifting a finger.
The Bluetooth tracker broadcasts a signal
Fixed to the tool and tied to its Allokit record, the tracker broadcasts its identifier over Bluetooth.
A gateway detects the tool
When the tracker is in range, the gateway recognizes its identifier and reports the detection to Allokit.
You find the last detection
Allokit attaches that information to the tool's record. You can see when the detection happened and which vehicle or place the gateway picked it up from.

A gateway is a connected Bluetooth reader
The gateway receives the signals from the trackers nearby and reports the detections to Allokit over a network connection. One gateway can detect several tools within its coverage area.
In a vehicle
The gateway travels with you. It detects the tools nearby and reports the detections along with its GPS position.
On a job site
Installed on site, the gateway detects the tools within its coverage area and records their presence on the site.
At the warehouse
The gateway detects the tools in range. Your crew can see which ones were picked up there, and when.

Every detection is attached to the tool's record. That gives you a concrete place to start looking.

Detection depends on the gateways nearby
A Bluetooth tracker doesn't report its position to Allokit on its own. A new detection is recorded when a gateway picks it up and passes the information along.
If the tool leaves the coverage area
The last detection stays your last reference point. It doesn't confirm the tool is still there.
If the tool is near a vehicle
The detection says it's nearby. It could be in the vehicle or right beside it.
Depending on the environment
Obstacles, metal job boxes and where the devices sit can all cut the range. Where you place gateways has to account for where your tools actually travel.
